Khon Kaen
Khon Kaen is located in the northeast of Thailand in the part of the country known as Isaan.
It is about the size of Cork City and has an international airport
The day market is situated across the road from the hotel we will likely be staying at and is well worth a visit.
There is also a night market which is not as exotic as the day market but is still worth a visit.
There are some trendy bars and restaurants a short walk from the hotel.
We will likely be staying at the Charoen Thani hotel in the centre of the city
There is a train which goes from Khon Kaen to Khao Suan Kwang but there are only two or three services a day which means it is generally quite crowded. If there are a lot of us going, it might not be feasible to use the train which is a shame as it is a fantastic way to travel especially after the monsoons when the country is so lush. Because of this, I will probably organise a coach to transport us to the village and back.
